Touchdown at Long Last!

This wasn't Kain's first touchdown but it was the first of this season and the first Dave and I saw. Last year his team ended the season 1-5, he had 1 TD which Dave and I heard from across the field as we were rushing with kids in tow to make his game. He had plenty of catches that year but just that one TD.

Saturday his team played their 3rd game of the season and crushed the other team with an end score of 36-8. Kain had one TD and this is a picture I took of him running towards the end zone. Of course I don't have a picture of his actually crossing into the end zone since I didn't realize he had the ball until after I snapped this and then started screaming and jumping up and down like those crazy parents you want to shoot in the head. But I did get this picture which I think turned out awesome none the less and Kain loves that his feet aren't even touching the ground. It was a beautiful day for a game and it ended up being a great game to boot!

Spirit Babies

A recent conversation with Kain...

Kain: "mom do you believe in karma?"

Me: "yes I do and I also believe that children choose their parents, so thanks for picking me."

Kain: "really?"

Me: "yep many cultures believe that when babies are still spirits they choose who they want their parents to be in their next life."

Kain: "so all of us have lived many lives before?"

Me: "many people believe so."

Kain: "do you believe that?"

Me: "yes I do."

Kain: "huh, so if there is karma and past lives I wonder what I did in my last life to get you as a mom?"

Me: "are you saying that in a good way or bad (because he didn't make it sound like a good way)"

Kain: (laughs)

I guess the thing I found funny about this conversation, aside from the obvious, is that later that day I read a post of a woman comforting another who had just had a miscarriage and recommended the book, Spirit Babies. So having had two myself I decided to get the book. It arrived just days after hearing about a friend's loss which always breaks my heart to hear. I am loving the book though since not only has the metaphysical world always fascinated me but especially my children's spiritual journeys to finding me as their mother. I do not think the miracle and creation of life will ever stop amazing me!

Kain gets his school pictures taken tomorrow so since some of the home schoolers in the group we belong to planned to take pictures today at the botanical gardens this morning the kids and I thought it would not only be a perfect day to taken in the gardens again but to snap some pics as well. So here is what I got...Now if we only had Kain in the picture too...
